Frequently Asked Questions
HOW DOES THERAPY HELP?
Therapy provides a safe place for you to explore whatever issues or concerns may be present in your life, such as anxiety, depression, trauma, life transitions, and relationship conflicts. It also provides you with support to learn about yourself and to develop skills in order to bring about desired changes. Therapy can be a tough process at times and feel like things are getting worse before that get better. This is actually a sign you are making progress and leaning into pain, hurts, etc. that you may have been stuffing for some time.
IS THERAPY REALLY WHAT I NEED?
Most people who find themselves on this website are struggling with some aspect of their lives. This is because we all face certain challenges, can get bumped off course, and sometimes need more guidance. That’s where I come in. Not because you are a failure or because you lack strength. We all need support at points in our lives, and these difficulties may actually be a sign you are ready to learn another way to heal and function in your life. Counseling is a way I can walk along side you on your unique path to growing and thriving in your life.
WHAT IS THERAPY LIKE?
Therapy is an individual process where we identify specific things you would like to focus on. Nonetheless, there is a general structure and style to how I conduct therapy. To begin, you will complete paperwork and an intake questionnaire before your intake appointment. For your first session, we will review all of the paperwork, answer any questions you may have, and identify goals for your therapy. After that, we’ll check in each session to see what you would like to focus on and how you’d like to move towards your goals.
Since sessions are only a small part of your week, we will identify ways you can implement the skills and knowledge you learn in your life outside of the therapy process. That way your growth can continue to develop throughout the week.
CAN I USE MY INSURANCE?
I accept Aetna, Cigna, Horizon Blue Cross and Blue Shield Colorado and Select Health. If I do not take your insurance plan, I can provide you with a superbill for you to submit for potential reimbursement. We can discuss insurance more during a phone consultation.
WHAT IS YOUR FEE?
The rate for 50-55 minute individual sessions is $165. I have limited sliding scale slots available.
WHAT ARE GOOD FAITH ESTIMATES?
You have the right to receive a "Good Faith Estimate" explaining how much your medical care will cost.
Under the law, health care providers need to give patients who don't have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the bill for medical items and services.
You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency items or services. This includes related costs like medical tests, prescription drugs, equipment, and hospital fees.
Make sure your health care provider gives you a Good Faith Estimate in writing at least 1 business day before your medical service or item. You can also ask your health care provider, and any other provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule an item or service.
If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill.
Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate.
For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises or call the Colorado Division of Insurance at (303) 894-7490 or (800) 930-3745.
IS ONLINE THERAPY/TELEHEALTH AVAILABLE?
I have been incorporating online therapy into my practice for several years. Clients and I meet via a secure video platform for sessions that incorporates many components of face-to-face therapy.
