EMDR and Brainspotting

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is an evidence-based treatment that enables people to heal from the symptoms and emotional distress that are the result of disturbing life experiences. Research has shown that EMDR can achieve the benefits of therapy at a much faster pace than traditional types of therapy. Each person is unique, so the EMDR process, including the timeframe, can look different for every client.

Brainspotting is another modality that supports the brain to resume its natural healing process. The basis of this type of therapy is that where we look activates parts of our brain that are connected to positive and distressing experiences. Brainspotting allows folks to neurobiologically locate and process experiences and symptoms that are typically not stored in the conscious mind.

EMDR and Brainspotting are often used to treat trauma and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). They have also been shown to treat a number of other issues, including, but not limited to, anxiety, phobias, grief, chronic pain, depression, addictions, and somatic disorders. During your therapy, we will go over the process for these modalities so that you know what to expect in each step of the way.
